How to decorate a successful Summer Luau

Summer is already here. Don't wait too long to throw a beach picnic or summer luau or the good weather will be gone before you know it. Here's some tips to decorating a fun summer party your guests will be wow'd by.

You can easily convert a normal table to an island drink bar and here's how.

Indoors or outdoors, a drink bar is the perfect statement piece in a luau party and will set the tropical mood. Combine our Chocolate Brown Table Cover with our fringe table skirts, like the Tiki Fringe Banner pictured below. Be sure to get a fun sign to write down the drink menu and hang flower garlands or other floral decorations to change a normal drink station into a tiki bar. Serve drinks in tropical printed cups to complete the look.

Have everything follow a bright color scheme: even the candy!

Decide beforehand which bright colors you are going to use for your party. I suggest 2-3 colors and no more than 4 or guests might feel overwhelmed. If you're having trouble picking them out, find an image that captures what you want your party to feel and extract the colors from it. Why have normal desserts when you can have beach themed ones!

For the extra mile, do some fancy DIY. Or if you aren't artistically inclined, make it an activity at your party. Make sand out of cookies or crackers, use gummy rings as small inflatable rings for gummy bears, parasol picks make anything feel more tropical, use your imagination! When in doubt, Google it because there's tons of great ideas already out there waiting to be made and impress your guests.
